Public Health Emergency Planning

A Public Health Emergency is Everyone's Business!

The Brookfield Department of Health plays a significant role in emergency preparedness and a key role in those emergency situations, which are threats to the public health. As such, the department is guided by its own Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) a copy of which is available for review in the department during normal working hours. The plan also provides for a Local Health Alert Network (LHAN) consisting of physicians, nurses, and others, who may be called upon for their assistance and expertise in the event of such emergencies. Membership is voluntary. Those desirous of serving their community in this effort can contact the Director of Health at 203-775-7315 or by email.

The Brookfield Department of Health is also an integral partner in the HVCEO Public Health Emergency Response Group and in the Region 5 DESPP Emergency Service Function 8 (ESF8) work group. As such, Brookfield is positioned to both receive and to offer assistance in the case of a regional or local public health emergency.
