Tax Sale

A Tax Sale is scheduled for August 7, 2018.  The properties are listed in the front vestibule of Town Hall.

Taxes are due July 1, 2018

Taxes will become due July 1, 2018.  The last day to pay without a penalty is August 1, 2018. Taxes not paid or postmarked by August 1, 2018 will become delinquent and interest will be charged from the due date of July 1, 2018 at the rate of 1 1/2% per month and is applied on the 1st of each month.  The minimum interest charged is $2.  Failure to receive a bill does not exempt you from the tax or the penalty per CGS 12-130.

Bills were mailed on Monday, June 25, 2018. 

Please note if you use your bank's bill payment system you should do it at least 10 days in advance.  They often do not use a post mark so if we receive it after the due date it will be considered late.

Tax Payments

Bills can be viewed online. Payments can be made by cash, check or credit card.  Payments can be made on-line or by phone at 1-877-271-5230. Please note there are additional fees for the on-line and phone services. Also note all credit card transactions have fees.   We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover.

Taxes can be addressed to Tax Collector, PO Box 508, Brookfield, CT 06804.  If you would like a receipt, please provide a self addressed stamped envelope.  Tax payments can also be made at Town Hall, 100 Pocono Rd, Brookfield, CT.

The Tax Office hours are as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8am to 4pm.  Thursday hours are 8am to 6pm.  

 

Collection Agency

Delinquent motor vehicle and personal property bills from the 2014 Grand List and older have been placed with Tax Serv for Collection.   Please make your payments to them or call them with any questions at 1-866-497-2427.  

Motor Vehicles No Longer Owned

If you have received a Motor Vehicle bill with a motor vehicle you no longer own, please contact the Assesor's Office to find out what you need to do to remove the bill or have it pro-rated for the correct time period.  You can call the Assessor's Office at 203-775-7302 or email at assessor@brookfieldct.gov
