Mission Statement:

The mission of the Department of Public Works is to provide the citizens of the Town of Brookfield the best possible services in the most efficient and economical way possible. Services include: Street and Drainage System Maintenance Repair, Tree Management, Engineering Solutions for Public Safety, Effective Management of the Capital Improvement Program, Maintenance of the Automotive Fleet, Snow and Ice Removal, and quick and effective responses to inclement weather damage as well as providing refuse and recycling services. The Department of Public Works is also responsible for the maintenance and capital improvement programs at the Town Hall, Police Station, Library, Old Town Hall, and Senior Center.

General Information:

Maintain Town roads and drainage systems, including snow plowing and sanding of roads. Maintain all town buildings.

Services:

  • Issue Driveway and Excavation permits
  • Issue Recycling and Yard Waste Refuse Permits

Other:

  • The Director of Public Works also reviews plans for all Land Use Commissions (Planning, Zoning, Inland-Wetlands).

Notes:

General Permit for the Discharge of Stormwater from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems.

The Public Works Department has placed THE BROOKFIELD STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN for public review and comment.

Copies of the plan are available at the Town Hall, Public Works Department, for public inspection from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and can be copied in accordance with the Federal and State Freedom of Information Acts.
