Brookfield Social Services is excited to bring support to members of the community and serve as a key point of contact for those looking to address various challenges they may be facing. The Behavioral Health Liaison serves as a resource for the community, assessing the needs people have in their lives and finding ways to better support them.The Behavioral Health Liaison actively conducts outreach to increase conversations about mental health, and to better assist individuals, families, and groups in finding whatever resources may be available to them. Through this position, we are actively collaborating with local emergency services and agencies within Brookfield to address individual challenges and provide resources that promote empowerment. The primary objective is to enhance well-being and serve as a bridge to necessary human service resources. The Behavioral Health Liaison serves all Brookfield residents and we encourage all community members to reach out and inquire about assistance that may be available for you and your loved ones. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Family Support Group

NAMI Family Support Groups, offered by NAMI affiliates in communities across the country, are free, confidential, and safe groups of families helping other families who live with mental health challenges. In NAMI Family Support Groups, families join a caring group of individuals helping one another by utilizing their collective lived experiences and learned wisdom. Family members can achieve a renews sense of hope for their loved on living with mental health challenges.

The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) promotes and administers comprehensive, recovery-oriented services in the areas of mental health treatment and substance abuse prevention and treatment throughout Connecticut.  

While the Department's prevention services serve all Connecticut citizens, its mandate is to serve adults (over 18 years of age) with psychiatric or substance use disorders, or both, who lack the financial means to obtain such services on their own.  DMHAS also provides collaborative programs for individuals with special needs, such as persons with HIV/AIDS infection, people in the criminal justice system, those with problem gambling disorders, substance abusing pregnant women, persons with traumatic brain injury or hearing impairment, those with co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness, and special populations transitioning out of the Department of Children and Families.

CIFC's Early Learning Programs operate the Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Northern Fairfield County and Norwalk. Head Start and Early Head Start are high quality childcare and preschool programs for children from 6-weeks old until they enter kindergarten. Head Start and Early Head Start are provided to eligible families at no cost. In Northern Fairfield County, CIFC also offers a School Readiness Program that provides all of the benefits of head start to families on a sliding fee scale based on need
