Warning of Municipal Election
The Electors of the Town of Brookfield are hereby warned to meet at their respective polling places in said town on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, for the following purposes:
I. To cast their votes for First Selectman, Selectman, Town Clerk, Treasurer, Board of Finance, Board of Education, Board of Assessment Appeals, Board of Assessment Appeals (to fill a vacancy for 2 years), Planning Commission, Zoning Commission, Zoning Commission (to fill a vacancy for 2 years), and Zoning Board of Appeals.
II. To vote on the following questions for the approval or disapproval of proposed revisions to the Town Charter, a vote of “YES” being a vote for approval, and a vote of “NO” being a vote for disapproval:
Shall Addendum A of the Charter be amended to allow the Board of Assessment Appeals to have three alternate members?
Shall Charter sections § C3-2, § C7-6, and Addendums A and B be amended to combine the Planning and Zoning Commissions and to consist of seven (7) members and three (3) alternates?
Shall the Youth Commission appointments in Addendum A III F of the Charter be revised to reflect town ordinance § 72-2?
Shall clarifications pertaining to textual terms and definitions in town finances be made to the following sections?
Section § C3-2 C (definition of Town Treasurer to conform with Connecticut General Statutes)
Section § C8-1 C (fiscal year accounting updating “books and accounts” to “financial statements”)
Section § C8-2 A, D (preparation of budget – remove printed newspaper requirement)
Section § C8-5 A, E (special appropriations and transfers of appropriations – language updating “cash surplus” to “fund balance”)

Notice is hereby given that the location of the polling places is as follows: District 1 will vote at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church Parish Hall – 138 Candlewood Lake Road. Districts 2 & 3 will vote at Brookfield High School – 45 Long Meadow Hill Road. Absentee ballots will be counted at Brookfield Town Hall – 100 Pocono Road. Election Day Registration will be held at Brookfield Town Hall – 100 Pocono Road. Voting tabulators will be used. The polls will be opened at six o'clock in the morning (6:00 a.m.) and will remain open until eight o'clock in the evening (8:00 p.m.).
