COVID Update 12/31/21

COVID Update

Brookfield,

Over the last several days, our Director of Public Health, Dr. Raymond Sullivan has fielded numerous questions about the newer Omicron Variant. It is more contagious, but thankfully less aggressive. Please find more information on Omicron at: Omicron Variant: What You Need to Know | CDC

We have a total of 237 cases for the 2 weeks ending on Christmas, 12/25.  Week 1 revised upward to 90 while Week 2 saw 147 cases. Case rate is now 99.7 up from 55.1.  Positivity rate is not reported, but appears to be in excess of 20%.  There are 2462 total cases (1931 confirmed and 531 probable as yet to be confirmed). Every town in CT is red except Canaan. 80.45% of residents have now received at least one dose of vaccine. 18% of children 5-11 have been vaccinated. It is predicted that rates will continue to rise through mid-January.
