Covid Update

Brookfield,

Happy New Year!

A limited number of test kits (1260) arrived to town last night. This is less than half of our original promised allocation.

We are distributing 250 kits to our essential personnel (Police, Firemen, vaccine clinic volunteers, DPW).

We will also be distributing 250 kits to our schools since the state school shipment did not arrive. There may still be a full distribution for schools, but the thought and guidance from the state is that in the meantime, separating out a small supply from the municipal allotment for the schools to have on hand to be used "for school staff who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or who have had a known exposure to COVID-19", would be a prudent immediate mitigation measure to help curb potential outbreaks/transmission.  Another reason for separating out this small supply is to continue to keep schools open.

The remainder of the test kits (760) will be distributed at TOWN HALL on Sunday, January 2nd from 12:00 to 1:00 in the Town Hall Parking lot. Distribution is based on a first come, first served basis. Each household may have two boxes if necessary, but if you only need one box please only take one in order for us to try to maximize our small allocation. There are two covid tests per box. Follow the arrows for the distribution line in the Town Hall Lot.
