COVID CASES IN BROOKFIELD

As of yesterday, Thursday the 18th of February, Brookfield remains in the Red Zone.

In the last two weeks reported we have had 69 new cases of the virus in Brookfield. Cases last week were 28, down from the 41 reported for the prior week. This is a drop of 37 cases since we reported last week. That moves our rate per 100K residents to 29, down from 45.5. The positivity rate for Brookfield is now 5.3%, down from 6.3% last week. This is a significant drop and we can only hope that the trend continues this downward path. Trends overall have been moving in the right direction for over 6 weeks now.

MAKING AN APPOINTMENT FOR ALL THOSE NOT 65 OR OLDER:

There is a new process for individuals with chronic health conditions or immune-compromised.  As we move into providing the vaccine to those with underlying conditions, we need to make a change. The CT DPH has greater capacity to decide the timing of eligibility for the vaccine based on your underlying health conditions. Going forward, all individuals who have chronic conditions or are immune-compromised need to register with the CT DPH who will decide how and when VAMS invitations will be sent out. The link to the CT DPH Registration platform is:

 Online VAMS Enrollment (ct.gov)

The link will only allow you to register when eligibility for your group is announced by the State. Signing up on the DPH website will not change the timing of when you can schedule an appointment.  As of right now, DPH says Front line essential workers and Chronic Medical Conditions will likely be announced as eligible sometime in March. Who qualifies for these groups has not been decided by the State yet.
