COVID CASES IN BROOKFIELD

As of yesterday, Thursday the 11th of February, Brookfield remains in the Red Zone.

In the last two weeks reported we have had 106 new cases of the virus in Brookfield. Cases last week were 40, down from the 66 reported for the prior week. That moves our rate per 100K residents to 44.5, down from 51.3. The positivity rate for Brookfield is now 6.3%, down from 7.5% last week. Our trends overall have been moving in the right direction for over 4 weeks now.

THOSE 65 AND OLDER CAN NOW MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE VACCINE

For those of you who have signed up through the town website, you should have received an email with the link to register and make an appointment. We urge you to do this as soon as you can.

WHO WILL BE ELIGIBLE IN THE NEXT GROUP TO RECEIVE THE VACCCINE

Unfortunately, the short answer is we don’t know. There has been much discussion as to which groups will be included in the next to be eligible to receive the vaccine. We do not have any clear direction from the State on this but we are told that the State will most likely include those with underlying health conditions in the next group. What conditions will be eligible are also yet to be determined. Beyond that, we have no information on what other groups will be made eligible or when they will be approved to receive the vaccine.  I personally believe that the Governor will make an announcement next week. I also believe that who will be made eligible will depend quite heavily on how much vaccine the State can obtain. Right now, our ability as a State to get the vaccine into people’s arms is working very well and even expanding into local chain drug stores. We could vaccinate a lot more people in our clinics in Brookfield if we can just obtain the vaccine. As soon as we hear what the next eligible groups are, we will send out a CodeRED immediately.
