25. Tree Cutting/Tree Removal

It is important to have a clear understanding where the property lines are located before planning to remove any trees. The Zoning regulations allow up to 100 cords of wood to be removed from a property annually for residential purposes without a permit. If the tree to be removed is located within 75 feet of a wetland area, 100 feet of a watercourse or within 200 feet of Candlewood Lake, the Still River or Lake Lillinonah, a jurisdictional ruling must be granted by the Inland Wetlands Commission before the trees may be removed. The Inland Wetlands application is available in the office and may also be accessed by clicking here.
