THIRD BROOKFIELD RESIDENT IDENTIFIED AS HAVING COVID-19

Our Director of Public Health informed us that a third Brookfield resident has contracted the virus. The resident, a male between 18-25, is isolated and recovering at home under self-quarantine. All close contacts of this patient will be notified by the epidemiology section of the State Department of Public Health.

REMINDER THAT PARKS ARE CLOSED

We have received reports that people continue to use the playgrounds at Town Hall and the basketball and tennis courts at Cadigan Park. These facilities are closed; we ask that no one use them. We can fight this virus by social distancing and gathering in groups of 10 or less. The best guidance we have from health experts is that there are many people carrying the virus who are asymptomatic, which means they have not felt any effects. Many of these people have not been tested, because of the lack of test kits. Please be safe and self-isolate as much as you can to keep others safe.

SHOPRITE HOURS FOR SENIORS

We have requested and ShopRite has agreed that they will have Senior only (60 and older) hours from 6AM to 7AM each day.

SUPORTING BROOKFIELD RESIDENTS

“Brookfield Recovers” is a special fund we have established this week to assist residents impacted by the Covid19 emergency. Brookfield is an extremely generous town, so it’s not surprising that we’ve been overwhelmed with inquiries from residents about “how can we help?” This is how you can help Brookfield residents. Donations will be administered by the town’s Department of Social Services with 100% of all contributions directly benefiting residents in need.

Funds will be used to purchase items to resupply our food pantry and to assist clients impacted with basic needs to help them stay in their homes.  Your gift will have a measurable and immediate impact on friends and neighbors. Please consider a donation to Brookfield Recovers.

All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law

Brookfield’s Tax ID: 06-6001966

You may send a donation via check, payable to:

BROOKFIELD FOOD PANTRY

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, The Brookfield Food Pantry has modified how it distributes food.

Pre-made bags of food will be distributed from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesdays for registered food pantry participants outside of Brookfield Senior Center. Food pantry participants who are sick should stay at home and contact the social services office to make another arrangement.

BROOKFIELD SENIOR LUNCHES

We are happy to let you know that we will be beginning to provide prepackaged lunches for seniors beginning Tuesday, March 24th between Noon and 12:15 PM. Please contact the Senior Center (203-775-5308) to request a meal 3 days in advance. Meals are provided for a suggested donation of $3. The donation box will be available at the pick-up If you are not currently registered for the congregate meal program at the Center you can complete the registration form required by CW, at the same time you pick-up your meal.

UPCOMING BOARD MEETINGS

We continue our policy of asking all boards to only conduct meetings that are necessary to conduct town business.

When there are required meetings, we have purchased a product that will allow boards to live stream from two of our conference rooms (rooms 133 and 209) at Town Hall. This application allows residents to sign on via computer or phone to watch, listen or participate in the meeting by making public comments. We will start using this service as soon as possible, with details to come shortly. The meeting agendas will include the sign-in information for residents to join.

CLOSING OF CERTAIN BUSINESSES

Our Director of Public Health has issued an order closing all nail salons and massage parlors for the duration of this health emergency.
