COVID CASES IN BROOKFIELD

As of yesterday, Thursday the 15th of April, Brookfield remains in the Red Zone.

In the last two weeks reported we have had 102 new cases of the virus in Brookfield. Cases last week were 36, down from the 66 reported for the prior week. The rate per 100K residents is 42.9, down from last week’s 60.9. The positivity rate for Brookfield is now 7.1%, down from 8.9% last week. Brookfield’s positivity rate is still over three times the State average. All rates are falling, following 4 weeks of increases. Now is the time to exhibit extreme caution to protect your family and friends so please take every precaution you can to help eliminate this virus.

One of the causes in this rise in the last two weeks was the case of a youth sports team in town where 45 people on or associated with the team contracted the virus and resulted in three people being hospitalized. We believe this is due to close contact between people and the virus may be one of the new variants which research has shown is 2.5 times more transmissible.
