Conservation Commission

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Conservation Commission identifies and prioritizes available and desirable areas for purchase as open space properties and determines the use of such properties.

The Brookfield Conservation Commission mission is to enhance the overall quality of life of current and future residents of the Town of Brookfield by providing the ability to enjoy the natural environment.

This is accomplished by:

  • Advising the Board of Selectmen, and other boards and commissions, on matters that impact open space directly or indirectly;
  • Managing the open space of the Town wherein the historic natural environment is balanced with the use by and safety of Town residents;
  • Continuously looking to add to the total amount of beneficial open space that the Town owns or controls.
