Closing/Moving Business

If You Are Moving Out Of Town Or Closing a Business:

 If you are Closing, Terminating, or Moving a business in town, please refer to each step that applies:

1. If you are Closing, Terminating, or Moving a business in town, fill out the Personal Property Declaration Affidavit form and submit it to the Assessor's Office. You can either use the link provided below to download and print the form to fill out or you can come in to the Assessor's Office to acquire a form. 

2. If you are Closing or Terminating a business in town and if you have registered your business with the Secretary of State, you must contact them to dissolve your business.  If you have not registered with the Secretary of State, please supply one of the following: 

  • Letter from an accountant or financial institution stating the date you closed or moved to your new location.
  • Letter from the past landlord when you moved or copy of new lease of where your business is located now. 
  • Copies of tax returns from the years you were not in business.

3. If you are Closing, Terminating, or Moving a business in town, check with the Town Clerk's office to see if you have opened a trade name. If so, you will need to fill out the appropriate form that is available in their office and bring a copy to the Assessor's Office. The Town Clerk's Office contact information is below.
