Present:  N. Power, A. Sparaco, J. Voris, R. Horree, Z. Nanassy

Not Present:  R. Marconi, R. Murphy

Also Present:  Chief Robin Montgomery, member of the press

 

Chairperson Power convened the meeting at 7:05pm.

 

1.     Approval of minutes:  Motion to approve minutes of June 2,

2010, by R. Horree, seconded by J. Voris.  Motion passed unanimously.

          2.  Public Comment:  None

          3.  Department Update:

                   a.  The Department of Transportation has viewed existing

                        crosswalks.  Chief Montgomery will be scheduling a meeting

                        with First Selectman Davidson to discuss the financial

                        responsibility of maintaining the crosswalks.

b.    The IMC system is in operation.  This computer system

enables internal messaging within the department.

c.    Bruno has been very effective in his recent duties, assisting

in a drug search in Newtown and tracking a motor vehicle accident suspect.

d.    A new General Order issued by the state legislature has

been put into effect.  It concerns illegal immigrants involved

in domestic violence issues. 

e.    The Connecticut Statewide Police Emergency Radio Network

(CSPERN) has activated a secure channel in police vehicles for the purpose of requesting direct state police assistance, if needed.

f.    Chief Montgomery distributed a document outlining revenue generated within the department through various sources

(private duty wages, administrative fees, vendor charges, parking fines). 

 

 

g.    The Brookfield scuba team, assisted by the Newtown and

Connecticut State Police scuba teams, recovered a drowning victim from Lake Lillinonah.  The purchase of sonar equipment for regional use is pending.

          4. Correspondence:

                   a.  A letter of appreciation was received from the police chief

                        in Wilton thanking Sergeant M. O’Brien for his assistance.

b.    Thanks has been received from the police chief in Danbury

for assistance given during the mourning process for Officer Kassick.  Also, the Emergency Support Unit was activated in New Milford to assist with traffic flow.

6.    New Business:  None

7.    Executive Session:  Motion to enter into Executive Session by A. Sparaco, seconded by R. Horree.  No action taken.  Executive session 7:25 – 7:35.
