August 17th, 2010

Economic Development Commission

Town of Brookfield, CT

Present: Hal Kurfehs Chairman, Peter Thompson Secretary and David Matte. Also attending was Fred Weisman Zoning Liaison. Absent Joe Rocky Robert Onorato Vice-Chairman Jim Fisher and Dick Cronin

Chairman Hal Kurfehs convened the meeting at 7:10 P.M.

Approval of the Minutes of July 22nd, 2010

Motion to approve minutes was made by H. Kurfehs and seconded by D. Matte. Motion approved.

Need Initiative for new EDC Website

We agree that a more professional website is needed to extol the advantages Brookfield has to offer prospective merchants. New, complete, professional web site would have to be budgeted for certain funds.

Drive Through Decision by Zoning

We discussed that although Zoning had approved the new definitions for drive-through facilities and restaurants at the Aug 12^th meeting, they failed to add the new definitions to the list of approved uses. Zoning moved to discuss this issue at their September 16^th meeting.

Town Center Article for News Times

We previewed the article Hal Kurfehs wrote and is in accord with it.

Consider Ways to Get Joe Rocky Involved

We discussed the various options to connect Joe to our meetings, from Webcam to other electronic means. Dick Cronin has agreed (by e-mail) to confer with Sam at the Town Hall to see what our options are.

General Discussion

We talked about how Joe is doing and the need for his being here as part of EDC meetings.

Motion to Adjourn was made by D. Matte and seconded by H. Kurfehs. Motion approved.
